Our scoring sites
are all located in growing communities with major universities and
technological/industrial bases. These areas attract a professional,
creative, well-educated work force. With annual evaluation of more
than four million tests, MI must maintain a pool of hundreds of
college-degreed reader/evaluators at each of our scoring
centers.
Scoring
Center Features
Our facilities are
specially designed to complement assessment scoring activities. All
of our scoring centers have the following features in common:
- A multi-line
telephone, fax machine, copier, and network of personal computers
are located in each office area.
- All scoring
centers are equipped with heating/air conditioning units designed
to remove and recirculate the air within the facility.
- During regular
scoring projects, scoring personnel sit two to a six-foot table,
allowing sufficient room for training materials. All chairs are
padded for personal comfort.
- All scoring
center areas, including restrooms, are fully accessible and
appropriately equipped for handicapped individuals.
- Hot and cold
water, tea, and coffee are provided free of charge in the employee
lounge areas, which are also equipped with drink and snack
machines and microwave ovens. Additional food and drink are
available at nearby retail outlets.
Waste Management
Because the nature of
our business requires us to use large quantities of paper products,
we think that it is particularly important to exercise ecologically
responsible and environmentally sound policies within our facilities.
Whenever possible, we use recycled paper to produce our printed and
copied materials. We also regularly pay to have our recyclable paper
and cardboard products removed for reprocessing and reuse.
Measurement Incorporated actively and enthusiastically participates
in other forms of solid waste management as well. Our offices save
and donate glass, plastic, aluminum, and steel drink containers to
recycling programs.
Security
A primary concern
during any assessment scoring effort is the security of assessment
materials and the confidentiality of examinee identity. Measurement
Incorporated appreciates and shares these concerns and routinely
implements a number of measures to help safeguard student responses
while they are in our possession.
- Student
responses are arranged in numbered packets with no other personal
identifying information. Packets are stored in a secure warehouse
before and after being scored.
- Recording or
photographic equipment is not allowed in the scoring areas without
express consent of the client.
- Training
materials and actual student responses must remain on the premises
during a project.
- Student
responses may not be photocopied unless they are to be used for
training materials, client decision/documentation, or other
purposes specifically authorized by the client agency. Only
supervisory personnel and clerical aides are permitted to
photocopy them.
- At the beginning
of every assessment project, each employee assigned to that
project is required to sign a confidentiality and nondisclosure
form.
- Our
headquarters, scoring centers and warehouses utilize an electronic
security system during non-business hours.
Additional security
measures are incorporated into project specifications as necessary to
accommodate client needs.
Measurement
Incorporated acknowledges that the arrangement, planning, and
maintenance of our facilities ultimately affect our ability to
perform our services in the professional and efficient manner our
clients have come to expect. The policies we observe and procedures
we undertake further ensure our reputation as leaders in the
field.
